Karen M. Collins
Danny Boy is an intimate look at a life well lived, a fond remembrance of one manís impact on his family, friends and, community, and a frank and fearless look at end of life challenges.

It is also a profound statement of faith, filled with assurances that faith does not go unrewarded.

One interesting aspect of this book is that it is authored not only by the primary writer, Karen Collins, but a large portion of the content is contributed by family and friends of Dan Collins as compiled from emails and CaringBridge entries that were posted during Dan's struggle with lung cancer.

This is a courageous book, an intimate book, a fearless book. It doesn't get any more real than this. Really a fine testimony to faith, love, and hope.

Karen's stories of how Dan, after his death, sent her assurances that heaven is real are truly inspiring and faith building.

If ever there was a book about LOVE, this is it.

Comments: Once I started Danny Boy, I couldn't put it down. It is wonderfully written, incredibly heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time. It was so difficult to read having gone through the process with Dad. Even with tears streaming down my face, I couldn't stop reading. Some of your insights and Dan's strength and courage, are truly inspiring. Dan was an incredible, generous and kind man. You were lucky to spend so many years together and enjoy such a caring family. I think it must be one of life's truest blessings. Thank you for sharing such a personal and tragic loss. While I'm sure it doesn't lessen the pain or sorrow, I hope you know that it reminds many of us what is really important in life.

Comments: Danny Boy is a brave, honest, intimate biography/memoir of an incredible manís journey through life as he battled cancer. Some pages make you smile while others get soaked with tears. By the end, your heart goes out to Karen Collins (and her family) - you want to hug and thank her for opening the door and letting us all in to view these chapters of her life. As a woman, and a mother, this is a valuable, passionate book that leaves me grateful I have a foundation in faith, and reminds how important it is to cherish every moment of every day. If you have not read it already, I hope you will!
